About

My name is Tom Greene. I live in the north of Scotland with my wife and two children, and work as a Search and Rescue helicopter pilot for HM Coastguard.

I began painting in 2024 during a period of recovery following injury. What started as a way to occupy time quickly became a focused and ongoing practice.

My work is grounded in the natural world, particularly birds. Through falconry and breeding, I have spent years observing movement, structure, and behaviour at close range. This carries directly into the paintings.

The paintings are built through careful observation of light, tone, and form. I am interested in restraint — simplifying what is seen rather than adding to it — and in creating a sense of presence without unnecessary detail.

Each piece is an original acrylic painting, produced in limited numbers each year.
